More injuries

Even though our children may not appreciate it now, I am so thankful that James can take care of all our medical needs in Chad.  Just before leaving, at the end of August, Eliana got hit on the eyebrow by a neighbor's metal door when a boy threw something heavy on the other side of it.  She didn't cry one bit, but on her way home, the first thing she said when she saw me was, "I don't think it will need stitches, it's really not that bad."  She didn't cry any after that either until James told her that she would have to have a couple stitches to hold it closed.  She was nervous at first, but after he numbed it, she did a great job, and afterwards had a beautiful purple eye with three stitches.  With a little eyeshadow on the other eye, you could hardly tell she had an injury.

Then, just this week while on Holiday in England, she was riding a bike and while making a sharp turn, the bike collapsed under her, and caught on the edge of her big toe nail.  Her entire big toenail, except for a tiny part at the top of the nail bed was completely ripped off.  It was a pretty awful sight, and bleeding everywhere, not to mention the fact that she could non even walk normally on it for a few days.  She was a little nervous about the possibility of having to stitch the nail back on, but after a week or so it finally fell off and now we are just waiting for a new one to grow back in it's place.

And here is the roll of recent injuries since leaving Chad that have not been able to heal.  Yes, I agree, it's gross, but when you are a doctor, these things are interesting to document.
