Da Jesus Book

Aloha,

When we were in Orlando, we got to visit the Wycliffe Discovery Center, and while we were there, we were introduced to Da Hawai'i Pidgin Bible.  After reading a couple of pages to the kids, we decided to pick up a copy, mostly for our traveling enjoyment.  It is near enough our own english that we can understand it, but different enough that we find it...well, totally other.  We have enjoyed reading it to the kids, especially the passages that we are studying as a family.  It is amazing how taking a new look at a familiar passage can give you new insight.  Here is John 3:16 for a taste:

16“God wen get so plenny love an aloha fo da peopo inside da world, dat he wen send me, his one an ony Boy, so dat everybody dat trus me no get cut off from God, but get da real kine life dat stay to da max foeva."

I love it's simple language, that even the youngest readers can understand...I mean, who wouldn't want life that stays to the max forever?  Some of our favorite translations include:  God - Da Boss, The Holy Spirit - God's Spesho Spirit, Acts - Jesus Guys, Revelation - Jesus Show, etc.
