First Annual Field Day 2014

This year, we began what we hope will be a tradition for many years to come, a Field Day for our kids to race, play and challenge each other to friendly competition.  The events were determined, the teams were chosen, and they were given one month to practice and train for the exciting day.  Each team chose a name and team colors, made a flag, and practiced their cheers.  We headed to the hills on a beautiful 100+* day, and we even had a small crowd of Chadian spectators.

The games started with a warm up and prayer

Each team got to sport their colors and do a cheer.

The Olympians in green
The Phoenix in red
James and I sponsored The Ducks in yellow.
Unfortunately, being the photographer, I didn't get a team picture.

Here are a couple of our Ducks eating "quackers"

We did leap frog,
Egg and Spoon relay,

We had a water break,

We did some more cheers.

 and rounded up the stragglers.

Then there was the Standing Long Jump,

 Jump Rope

 And the Potato Sack Race

Our Coach and Coach In Training

It ended with a Water Balloon Toss and cool down.

Afterward we went home and had pizza and ice cream.  At the end of the events, two of the teams were  tied for first place, so it was decided that the adult sponsors would arm wrestle to determine the winners.  Let's just say it wasn't a happy ending for the Ducks, and James and I will be building our biceps for next year's competition.  All in all though the day was a success and a memory that the kids will talk about for a long, long time!
