Fitness Challenge
We have wanted to get into shape for a long time, but really, who doesn't. If it's true that a person who is healthier is less likely to get sick, then we want our bodies in their in top form in order to prevent us from getting sick here where it is more common. Those are all good desires, but really, who has time to exercise, especially when the temperatures are rising above 100* before 10 a.m.
Our kids were challenged by another family to try to exercise every day this month, and then participate in a field day at the end of the month. So, we started to exercise. The first week went pretty good, we all had a few sore spots on days 2-7, but for the most part, it just felt good to be doing something more active. One of the downsides though is the exhaustion factor. Here in Chad, because the sun is up at 5 am, and because of the heat, and the demands of life, usually by 8p.m. we are nodding off to sleep, either in our beds, or on the couch, or wherever we are. When you add in the exercise, it means that the exhaustion factor increases almost exponentially. It seems that there are always a couple of people that have dropped of to sleep right in the middle of something we are doing. Here, Hali and James fell asleep just after eating dinner on the veranda.

And on top of that, they are getting really good at sleeping just about anywhere! Here, Hali fell asleep across four buckets and took a nice long nap.

Haha, that last picture is the best! I think living in Chad itself is exercise.
