African American Friends

This week we were blessed to have our favorite African American friends camping out in our basement instead of the stormy Minnesota wilderness.  They are not the typical "African Americans" though...their skin is as light or lighter than ours, and they talk in the most unique accent.  They actually come from South Africa, and I guess technically only one of them could be called "African American" since he was born here during their stay in the States while attending seminary.

It has been exciting to know them these past 5 years here in MN since we have been travelling the same road together - the road that leads to Africa.  They knew they were returning to Africa, though, and we had no idea God would be putting us on this path.  They truly have been a blessing to us in many ways, one being exposing us to the African mindset.  Boy have we got a lot to learn!

In trying to get back to Africa, they have launched a creative and tasty way to share their passion for the people there.  They are selling coffee to raise awareness of the need for people to be sent there with the good news.  You might wonder what coffee and the great commission have in common, just check out the label...

And, here are a couple pictures of our families together at our city's local parade...just a taste of small town America for a our African friends.
