The Gender-Confused Cat
When we got our little black kitten, it was too small to tell whether it was a girl or a boy. At the time however, we didn't know that we should wait to find out what it was, we just assumed it was a girl and proceeded to give it the name 'Amira' or in English, 'Princess'. Well, four weeks later, we finally realized that Amira was really an 'Amir' (Prince). Although the cat was still fairly new, and only just warming up to it's name, the kids however continued to call the cat by that name. Finally, after some time and many failed attempts at re-naming the cat (Panther, Darth Vader, Frankenstein, Dracula, and Midnight), we have settled on the name Kit Cat. This is mainly because most of the time we just called him Kitty, and that was able to morph into his more permanent name. Sadly though, the children still refer to it as Her when they talk about the cat. Hopefully with a little time, this too will change. And, by that time, we hope the cat has not run away, gotten run over, or been left in the 'cadade' (out in the country). As you can probably guess by the list of possible names, our dear Kit Cat likes to bite. Not hard enough to hurt you, but just enough to latch on, and pretend it is drinking milk. It's a strange habit that our Vet friend said can be normal for cats adopted too young. Well, I guess that makes two good reasons not to adopt a cat before the age when it is good for it to leave it's mother.
