The Kitchen

In my opinion the kitchen is the heart of any house.  You can do without many other rooms, but you can't do without a place to prepare food.  And the best kitchens are those that you can eat in.  Well, our kitchen isn't exactly an eat in kitchen, but we did spend a few weeks eating on the floor while we unpacked the rest of the house.  The kitchen has also been the hardest part of the house to adjust to without piped water.  We use two large water barrels to hold water, a large basin and bucket for doing the dishes, and a combination of a filter an igloo cooler and empty bottles for cold drinking water.  It finally feels like the kitchen has some order to it.  Here are a few photos of our humble kitchen, and something really yummy we have found to eat here...can you guess what it is?  That's right, it's a cucumber.  They are really huge here and look a little different on the outside, but still sweet and refreshing on the inside.  Praise the Lord for such simple pleasures!
