Chaya Renee

Chaya seems to have a natural ear for the french language.  (Maybe it's because she has a French middle name.)  It's not that she is fluent, or even close, but she is very good a copying the sound of French.  In fact, just before we moved to Quebec, she began to talk to Hali in a "foreign language".  This didn't seem to bother Hali that she couldn't understand anything Chaya was saying to her, she just went right along with it, and mimicked back.  It has been funny to watch this "foreign language" of hers sound more and more like French.  To someone that didn't know French, I think she could fool them into thinking she knew how to speak it.  She especially likes saying words with the hard guttural 'R' sound in them.  I have been trying to catch her doing this on video, but it has proved to be quite difficult as she is also a bit shy.

Now, this may be cute or even helpful in the learning process, but if it doesn't get beyond that, there might be trouble.  Here is a funny video clip we saw in our training that gives you an idea of what could happen if you think you know another language but you really don't.
