Staggering Statistics

While we are anticipating our future in Chad, there are moments when our flesh gets the best of us, and our feelings and emotions run wild.  Sometimes we wake up in the middle of the night, unable to go back to sleep, thinking of the mounting task ahead of us.  Besides all of the challenges we face on this side of the planet, (support raising, having our house rented, selling all our possessions...) there are a whole different set of issues on the other side of the planet.  What will life be like for us?  What will our work look like?  Will we ever really learn enough language to communicate with people there?...

One overwhelming issue, that can produce anxiety in us, is the thought of doing some form of health care in a place that only has one doctor for every 25,000 people.  As we have looked at some of the statistics, they are so far from our own, that they are hard to imagine.  173 kids will die out of 1,000 before they reach the age of 5.  The average life expectancy is 48 years!  And the list goes on and on.

Each time our fears overwhelm us, we remember and pray that God would keep us in perfect peace as our minds are stayed on Him and trusting in his son Jesus.  Isaiah 26:3

Jesus loves the little children...

All the children of the world...
Red and yellow, black and white...

They are precious in his sight....

Jesus loves the little children of the world!
