How things work

I love the way little kid minds work! Just this evening we were praying for the unborn, and for those who cause abortions, that they would see life the way God sees life. So this led to an interesting conversation with the kids. Knowing that there is a baby growing inside me, and always asking how big it was, and what it probably looked like, and if it had fingers yet, etc...etc... They began to think more about just how that baby got there.
We have read enough of the Bible to know some of the facts without knowing all the details, but they do know that it involves lying/sleeping next to each other. And from our "pro-life" conversations, they know that a new life is instantly created with one cell from a mom, and one cell from a dad.
So from this little bit of information come questions like:
JH - "So how does the daddy cell get inside the mommy cell?"
JH - "Do they just float through the air and get to the other person?"
James - "Um, we'll have to talk about that later."
E - "No, they have to lay together."
JH - "So then when they get close enough, do holes in their skin just open up?"
JH - "Ohh, or maybe they vomit, and they get inside the other person..."
James - "Bud, we'll just talk about that later."
::and the conversation is diverted::.......successfully evaded again.

Not sure how long this can go on without wanting more concrete answers.
All the while I am sitting on the sidelines, laughing uncontrollably. :)

Then, to end the evening with one last laugh, the kids were asking about the new baby again, and I had mentioned that I got to hear the baby's heart beating at my last appointment, and John Hardy said "Wow mommy, how did you bend in half to get your ear to your stomach?"

Kids think the funniest things!
