Experiment in Desert Gardening

After the rains came and left, we still had a overgrown tomato plot, and some budding pepper plants, but we decided to try an experiment...growing broccoli, brussel sprouts and spinach in the cold season.  At least they call it the cold season - the temperatures are no where near the usual temperatures that broccoli likes to grow in, but we had nothing to loose, so we planted the seeds, composted them, and prayed that they would grow.

So far we have some beautiful flourishing broccoli plants.  After thinning them a bit, the only thing left to do is wait to see if they will produce something worth eating in the next two weeks before we leave.  At least if we don't get to eat them now, we'll know it's worth giving it another try in the future!  The possibilities are endless.

So far we have successfully grown green beans, okra, tomatoes, yellow cherry tomatoes, spinach, basil, cilantro, bell peppers and zucchini....still waiting on the broccoli.
