Our Favorite Rap Artist

About 5 years ago, we were introduced to a rapper that put rap back into our music library.  Shai Linne is not your average rapper, and his lyrics are very different than what most people think of as American Rap.  This man loves Jesus, he likes to THINK, and he also likes to rhyme.  In the end it makes for a pretty incredible combination.  On his first album we bought, The Atonement, he packs in more Bible than most Sunday sermons.  Have you ever heard the doctrine of the trinity in a rap?  My personal favorite is called "Jesus is Alive", showing the supremacy of Jesus over every other living (or shall I say 'dead') person.  Sure, other people in history were great and did great things, but only one person brought himself back to life after being laid in the grave.
Recently his music has been highlighted among Christian circles because he's also not afraid to speak out about truth, and since 'getting doctrine right' is his thing, in his latest album he points out the dangers of following false teachers...something today's "tolerant" church is too afraid to do.  One of the most notable things about Shai Linne that anyone who meets him will immediately recognize is his humility. His goal is not to put others down in order to build himself up, but to point people away from dangerous teaching, and toward Jesus.  Take a minute to listen to this latest controversial song, and if you have the time, hear him explain his heart behind the song.  I hope it challenges you like it did for me to be willing and able to speak out for what is true and right.
