The Rock

Some of you may already know that James has a kidney stone.  Last week he woke up to excruciating pain, which only lasted through the morning.  Then he had no symptoms for a week, only to have the pain return this evening.  The last occurrence of kidney stones he had was about 23 years ago, which ended in surgery.  It was bound to happen sooner or later as our bodies are constantly dehydrated here.  It is not uncommon to go an entire 24 hour period without having to pee more than twice, and that's when we are pushing the water and fluids.  It just becomes normal here.
We are hoping and praying that this stone comes out with no problems, like most stones do.  The pain is unavoidable, but hopefully it will be short lived.  Join us as we look to the Father to be James' comforter, helper, and the solid Rock on whom we stand.

This psalm has been a great comfort to us during our transition to Chad, and no doubt a reminder that He is with us even now.

121
I lift my eyes to the hills
from where does my help come from?
My help comes from the Lord
the maker of heaven and earth.
He will not let your foot be moved,
He who keeps you will not slumber,
behold, He who keeps Israel will
neither slumber nor sleep.
The Lord is your keeper.
The Lord is your shade at your right hand.
The sun shall not smite you by day
nor the moon by night.
The Lord will keep your going out
and your coming in
from this time forth and forever more.
